
From December 14–18, Qiu Yong, Secretary of the CPC Tsinghua University Committee, visited France and Greece to promote educational, scientific, and cultural cooperation with leading
European institutions, advancing China–EU strategic partnership.
In France, Qiu met UNESCO Director-General Khaled El-Enany to discuss collaboration in AI, online education, cultural heritage, and youth development. He also visited Sciences Po, where he and President Luis Vassy signed a letter of intent to deepen research and talent programs in AI, public governance, and sustainable development.
In Greece, Qiu met leaders from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, the National Technical University of Athens, and the Athens University of Economics and Business. He signed memoranda of understanding and student exchange agreements to expand cooperation in engineering, humanities, AI, energy transition, fintech, and cultural heritage preservation.
Qiu also delivered a keynote address in Athens on “Cultural Inheritance and Mutual Learning Among Civilizations in the Era of Artificial Intelligence” and engaged with political, business, and academic leaders, including former Prime Minister George Papandreou, highlighting the role of international collaboration in sustainable development.
